Wolverhampton

Wolverhampton are moving forward with a roadshow service, a full programme of support for their champions network and a new pool of volunteer mediators.

Winning a Compact Award is typically a springboard to further success, and Wolverhampton are using the momentum gained from winning two during Compact Week in November 2009. City Council Leader Neville Patten immediately launched the Wolverhampton Compact Roadshow, which visits organisations and events.

As with many successful Compacts, Wolverhampton is capitalising on the contribution that champions make. The support they get includes a quarterly network meeting to share ideas, information and success plus an annual event. Local Compact partners are establishing a pool of 12 volunteer mediators to resolve disputes, while sustaining relations between public bodies and groups and improving future working together. The mediators will be trained by the Centre for effective Dispute resolution.
